The Edina Schools websites are managed by a group of webmasters:

  • one webmaster for each school
  • one webmaster for each major district department
  • one overall district webmaster who coordinates school and department webmasters

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities for webmasters include but are not limited to:

General

Design

  • Work with your group's web oversite committee (for example, BATT team for school webmasters or Department Head for district department webmasters) to establish design, vision, and content for website.
  • Take initiative in creating the site. Work with oversite committee to generate content and assign responsibilities for creating pages.

Work with Teachers and Department Staff

  • Work with TIS to ensure teachers receive appropriate training and guidelines on creating webpages.
  • Work with staff in using third party software as appropriate for creating web pages.
  • Assist teachers in designing and uploading web pages for class or group projects.
  • Ensure that teacher/department pages are uploaded quickly (within two working days).
  • Ensure that teachers and department staff have access to appropriate web tools.

Maintenance and Quality

  • As pages are loaded to the web site, make sure they are correct (correct spelling, links operational, etc.).
  • Keep time-sensitive pages up-to-date and consult with staff to maintain their individual web pages.
  • Review entire site monthly and remove outdated material.
  • Have responsibility for uploading of pages and security of the password.
  • Work with web committee to assure quality of web site.
  • Retain a backup of the website.

Training

  • Attend webmaster meetings and training sessions.
