Growing Up: Mothers and Daughters

A workshop for girls in Grades 3-5 and their trusted adult. Growing up female has its joys and challenges! Join us for 3 hours of activities and discussions about healthy sexuality.

K-12 Parenting Classes

If you have a child in elementary, middle or high school, you may be wondering where to find answers to your parenting concerns.  The Edina Family Center is proud to offer classes to meet your needs.  These Beyond ECFE classes meet at the Edina Community Center.  A licensed parent educator will guide the discussion and provide information based on research, knowledge of child development and family education.  Group discussion allows parents to share their joys and concerns, experience and wisdom.  Classes are offered both day and evening, monthly or several times a year.

Parent Workshops

It's That Easy-Parents as Sexuality Educators Taught by Kris Shelley
February 23, 2012 6:30pm to 8:30pm ECC Room 351
Why do we have a difficult time talking with our children about sexuality? This workshop is for parents with children 5-12 years old. Join us to review resources and walk away with pertinent handouts. Register Online

Book Studies

In collaboration with the Advisory Council we offer a book study each year. Watch for more information for the 2011-2012 book program.

Individual Parent Education

If you would like to discuss individually with a licensed parent educator issues around:

• Child/adolescent development
• Discipline
• Communication skills
• Nurturing self-esteem
• Tantrums
• Eating, sleeping or toilet training
• Sibling issues
• Curfews
• Parent/child relationships
• School readiness
• Any other parenting concerns

Workplace Parent Education Seminars

The Edina Family Center offers workshops within the workplace to address parenting and work/family balance issues.  Topics offered include:

In addition, Family Center Parent Educators will customize seminars to meet specific needs within each work place.  $150 per One Hour Seminar
