Information for Teachers

Edina Public Schools is committed to using community volunteers, to help personalize instruction and enrich curriculum for all learners.  In addition it promotes and strengthens partnerships between the school and the community.  If having a community member volunteer would be beneficial to your students, fill out the Online Request for Volunteers form to get started or contact 952-848-4926.

Basic Skills Help

Basic Skills Help provides academic enrichment opportunities that help bring students and volunteers together during the school day.  The days and times vary with each request, based on the academic schedule.

Homework Help

Homework Help provides academic enrichment opportunities either before or after school.  The assignments are based on what the student needs to complete, sometimes with assistance, and always with encouragement.

Community Volunteer Program Tips

  • When you submit your request, include as much information as possible.
  • Submit your requests as early as you can.
  • Confirm with the volunteer in advance. This is your opportunity to communicate your specific expectations and give the volunteer any insight that would be helpful.
  • Prepare materials that the volunteer will need.
  • Have adequate space for the volunteer to work effectively with students.
  • All volunteers must be supervised by staff at all times (District Policy 911)
  • Send CVP feedback about the volunteer and the program – your opinion counts!
