Curriculum Resources and Programs can help make your curriculum “real” for your students by bringing Resources into your classroom to share their expertise and experiences.  The possibilities are endless.  Our resources can cover a multitude of topics.

Resource Speaker

The resource speakers come to your classroom to speak with your students.  They bring with them their experience and expertise on a particular topic.  The CRP database is always being updated with new resources.  These speakers are mostly volunteers.

Resource speakers are usually scheduled one month in advance, with the exception of some professional organizations which sometimes are scheduled months in advance.

Field Trips

There are many field trip opportunities in the metro area.  Fees are determined by location as well as chaperone ratios and limitations on the number of students.  The destinations also have cancellation policies that must be adhered to.

Any transportation that is necessary needs to be requested through the Edina Public Schools Transportation office. CRP is not responsible for transportation or financial arrangements with the sites.

Field trips are often scheduled a year in advance.

Theme Events

Theme Events utilize multiple speakers.  These presentations can be made over a period of time or all on the same day.  CRP schedules Fairs, Forums, and Concentrated Studies.

Theme Events can take months to organize.

Making the Presentation a Success

  • When you submit your request, include as much information as possible.
  • Submit your requests as early as you can.  Many resources need a lot of lead time to schedule.
  • When the request is filled, CRP will send the confirmation via email. Included on the confirmation are the resource information, time/date, and any specifics necessary.  The school office and the resource also get a copy.
  • Confirm with the resource at least one week in advance.
    • This is your opportunity to communicate your specific curriculum expectations and determine any needs the resource has in order to make the most out of the presentation.
    • Please verify with the resource the date, time, and location.
  • If the presentation needs to be cancelled, please notify the school office also.
  • Send CRP feedback about the presentation – your opinion counts!
